On February 17, 2014, police in Houston, Texas arrested 24-year-old Jasmyn Hines after they seized a substance from her that field-tested positive for cocaine.
On February 19, 2014, Hines pled guilty in Harris County Criminal District Court to a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. She was sentenced to 60 days in the Harris County Jail.
On March 4, 2014, the Houston Police crime laboratory tested the substance and no controlled substance was found.
In 2016, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office’s conviction integrity unit informed Hines’ defense attorney, who filed a motion to vacate Hines’ conviction.
On March 30, 2016, the conviction was vacated and the prosecution dismissed the charge.
