On September 29, 2014, police in Baytown, Texas arrested 29-year-old Clint Hadley after they seized what were suspected to be several doses of Alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug.

On October 1, 2014, Hadley pled guilty in Harris County Criminal District Court to misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 15 days in the Harris County Jail.

On December 23, 2014, the Harris County Institute for Forensic Sciences performed laboratory tests on the tablets and no controlled substances were found.

The laboratory notified the Harris County District Attorney’s conviction integrity unit which then informed Hadley’s defense attorney.

A motion for a new trial was filed and the trial court judge granted the motion and vacated the conviction. The prosecution then dismissed the charge.
