The final report includes an analysis of 331 lawsuits brought under Section 2 since the Voting Rights Act was amended in 1982, for which there is at least one published opinion in a Federal Reporter or on Westlaw or LexisNexis.

Plaintiff Rate of Favorable Outcome: 123

Voting Rights Plaintiffs granted a remedy in court: 37.2%

The Voting Rights Initiative Database and Final Report present a look at the most complex and difficult cases; the ones that could not be settled by the parties and thus required adjudication by a court in a published opinion.

The VRI Report has been published in the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform and is also available at 39 U. Mich. J.L. Reform 643 (2006).
