Who Are We?: A Report on the Results of the Michigan Law Alumni Survey
3-4 P.M.
South Hall, Bickner Room (1020)

Michigan is the only American law school that regularly has surveyed its alumni about their careers. After an eight-year hiatus, Michigan Law recently resumed this life/job satisfaction survey last year.  This year the classes of 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2010 will be polled.  Prof. J. J. Prescott will review initial survey findings and engage the audience in a lively discussion regarding the changes in alumni lives and careers.

Alumni & Student Speed Mentoring
4-5:30 P.M.
Hutchins Hall, Robert B. Aikens Commons, Lower Level

Have you heard of speed-networking?  Well, this is speed-mentoring!  Over the course of an hour, students will change seats and mentors every six minutes, gathering information and advice from alumni in practice.  Most student participants will be 1Ls and would love to get your advice on helpful tips for law school and beyond.

Interested alumni and students are asked to complete a short questionnaire about their background, career experiences, interests, and aspirations.  The answers gathered from the survey will be compiled into information sheets that the alumni and students can exchange with one another.  More than a business card, but shorter than a resume, these information sheets will allow you to stay connected to those you have met.

Want to participate?  Please complete the survey by Friday, September 11.  Questions?  Please email lawmentors@umich.edu

The Story Hour is about bringing our class together to share the adventures we have lived since we set out on our separate paths.  It will provide us the opportunity to hear genuine, raw stories about the post-graduation journeys that have shaped the lives of our classmates.  Your everyday life experience is filled with great anecdotes and humorous interludes with life; your learnings are ones that would enrich us all.

There will also be time at the end of the session for any impromptu storytellers.  This will be a great event for anyone looking to dive a little deeper with their classmates to hear how life has really been.
