Rising 2Ls and 3Ls are gearing up for Early Interview Week (EIW), which will be held Tuesday through Thursday, August 4-7, in the Lawyers Club. During the four-day event, students will have an opportunity to meet with potential employers representing more than 500 offices, including law firms, government agencies, and private-sector companies.
"We're excited to welcome employers to campus," said Kim LeClair, recruitment manager in Michigan Law's Office of Career Planning. "We had a very successful first year back on campus last August, and overall law firm placement was up significantly last year—more than 70 percent of our 2Ls worked at a law firm this summer. This year, we've already seen signs of increased demand for Michigan students."
Eighty percent of 2Ls (276 students) are participating in EIW, LeClair said. More than 5,000 interviews have been scheduled this year, an increase from the 4,600 interviews held in 2014. Of those conducting interviews, at least 50 percent are alumni.
