SERVICE BEFORE STUDY  Before starting classes May 29, Michigan Law summer starters spent two days learning about the Law School and taking part in community service projects throughout Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Summer starters, who represent roughly one-quarter of the incoming 1L class, have the opportunity to explore campus, meet professors, and form friendships within their cohort before the greater University of Michigan community returns in the fall.

Service Day is funded by Randy Mehrberg, '80, through the Randall Eric Mehrberg and Michele Marie Schara Fund for Public Service in Honor of Susan M. Eklund. Mehrberg created the fund in 2005 to recognize Eklund's more than 20 years of service as associate dean of student affairs at Michigan Law.
