The Law School Stu­dent Sen­ate (LSSS) is the Law School’s elect­ed stu­dent gov­ern­ment. LSSS serves a wide range of func­tions and con­stant­ly strives to meet the var­i­ous needs and inter­ests of stu­dents at Michi­gan Law.

About the Law School Senate

LSSS is the main fund­ing source for all Law School stu­dent orga­ni­za­tions, and it also facil­i­tates stu­dent involve­ment with the Law School Admin­is­tra­tion. LSSS spon­sors numer­ous Law School events through­out the year, includ­ing events such as the Hal­loween Par­ty, Fac­ul­ty-Stu­dent Wine and Cheese Events, Fac­ul­ty Mem­ber Lec­tures, Win­ter For­mal, and Wel­come and End-of-the-Year Events. 

LSSS facil­i­tates change on behalf of stu­dents. The orga­ni­za­tion appoints stu­dents to all Uni­ver­si­ty and Law School stand­ing com­mit­tees, assists with fac­ul­ty hir­ing, liais­es with admin­is­tra­tive offi­cials on behalf of stu­dents, pro­vides sev­er­al ser­vices for law stu­dents, and leads var­i­ous ini­tia­tives to help improve stu­dent life and aca­d­e­mics at Michi­gan Law. LSSS also influ­ences pol­i­cy at the Lawyers Club through its rep­re­sen­ta­tives on the Lawyers Club gov­ern­ing body, the Board of Governors.
