Human Rights Advocates
Human Rights Advocates (HRA) is a student-led organization that promotes awareness of human rights issues through speakers, films, and volunteer work.HRA's volunteer work is notable in that it connects Michigan Law students with real opportunities to perform human rights work during all three years of law school. Volunteer opportunities are diverse as well: students may work as researchers for the Human Trafficking Database (a Michigan Law initiative), assist refugee families in resettlement with Jewish Family Services (an Ann Arbor non-profit), and conduct Know Your Rights trainings which apprise detained individuals facing removal proceedings of their rights. In addition to regular events and activities, HRA serves as a community for students, alumni, and practitioners to discuss human rights issues, develop projects, and find jobs and internships. To learn more about the Human Rights Advocates, please visit our website.
