Susan M. Kornfield, an adjunct professor at Michigan Law, chairs the intellectual property practice group at Bodman PLC. For 30 years, she has handled transactional and litigation matters and was lead counsel in Princeton University Press v. Michigan Document Services (copyright and coursepacks).

Kornfield has taught Intellectual Property Law, Copyright, The Law of Marketing, and Information Law at the University of Michigan's Law School, Ross School of Business, and School of Information.

She has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America (2008–2011, copyright law, litigation-intellectual property, litigation-patent, patent law, technology law, and trademark law), Michigan Lawyers Weekly (2010 Michigan Women in the Law), Inforum (2009 Inner Circle honoree), Michigan Super Lawyers (2006–present and "The Top 50 Women Attorneys" in the State of Michigan), and Crain’s Business Detroit (2007 Most Influential Women).

Kornfield has been selected as an expert witness, mediator, and arbitrator in intellectual property disputes. She has served for more than 12 years on an advisory committee at Stanford University on matters involving libraries, copyrights, and academic information resources, and on the University of Michigan Advisory Committee on Copyright, and has created intellectual property courses for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.

She is a member of the advisory committee to the University of Michigan Center for Entrepreneurship and lectures widely on technology and ethics. Kornfield is a member of Bodman’s executive committee and co-chair of the pro bono committee. She worked for five years in the biomedical engineering and policy analysis divisions of the University of Michigan before attending law school and was associated with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago before returning to her home state of Michigan.
