Jason Cowin is a public interest attorney-counselor. He advises students and alumni on all aspects of career planning with a particular focus on public interest.

Cowin received his JD from American University Washington College of Law in 2015. During law school, he was a student attorney in a clinic and worked at several policy and legal service non-profits. He also volunteered as an advocate at DC SAFE, a crisis intervention agency for survivors of domestic violence in Washington, D.C.

Prior to joining the Office of Career Planning, Cowin was a clinical teaching fellow in the Pediatric Advocacy Clinic at Michigan Law. For nearly three years, he taught in the clinical seminar and supervised students on family law, domestic violence, public benefits, and education law matters. Before coming to Michigan Law, Cowin represented children in neglect and abuse cases in Washington, D.C., as a staff attorney at the Children’s Law Center and clerked at the District of Columbia Superior Court.
