George Kimball, ’78, a lecturer at the University of Michigan Law School, is a member of the technology and outsourcing practice at Wiggin and Dana LLP. Before joining the firm in 2015, he was associate general counsel at Hewlett-Packard (HP) and spent more than 30 years in private practice in California, including partnerships at Latham & Watkins, Arnold & Porter, Baker & McKenzie, and Kimball & Weiner LLP, a Los Angeles technology boutique.

For more than 25 years, Kimball has advised clients concerning complex technology transactions, particularly contracts to outsource information technology and business processes in a variety of industries. At HP, he created and led worldwide training programs for legal and sales professionals in HP’s services business and served as counsel for some of HP’s cloud and security businesses.

His earlier experience included international transactions and business disputes; real estate transactions; trials and appeals in real estate, commercial, and constitutional cases; land use regulation; public contracts; and general representation of software, manufacturing, and other companies. Kimball wrote Outsourcing Agreements: A Practical Guide (Oxford, 2010) and has been ranked as a leader in his field of practice by Chambers Global, Chambers USA, and Legal 500.

At Michigan Law, with his late brother, Frank Kimball, ’77, he was a winner of the 1977 Campbell Moot Court Competition. He is a member of the bar in California, Michigan, and New York, and has been admitted to practice before the US Supreme Court.
