Description: What’s the difference between working at a law firm and working in public interest? Attorney Patrick Jaicomo will discuss the many changes he experienced when he joined the Institute for Justice last year and traded billable hours for pro bono representation. Before joining IJ, Patrick spent six years in private practice, where he handled all manner of litigation. Now, he works exclusively on civil rights and constitutional litigation. This upcoming term he will argue the police brutality case of Brownback v. King before the U.S. Supreme Court as part of IJ’s Project on Immunity and Accountability, which takes aim at the various immunity doctrines and special protections that allow government officials to violate individual and constitutional rights without consequence.
