Description: Join ACS and MDefenders to continue the conversation with Judge Restrepo. Drop in to learn more about Judge Restrepo’s career before the bench, particularly his experience working on civil rights issues as a defense lawyer in Philadelphia.

Judge Restrepo was appointed to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 2013. He was appointed to his current position on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2016.

Upon graduating from Tulane Law School in 1986, Judge Restrepo served as a law clerk at the ACLU’s National Prison Project. From there, Judge Restrepo practiced as a defense lawyer in Philadelphia, first working as a public defender and then founding his own firm, Krasner & Restrepo, which specialized in criminal defense and civil rights litigation.
