Description: Join Judge Felipe Restrepo of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to discuss diversity in the judiciary - from who ends up as a clerk to why a judiciary comprised of individuals from different backgrounds is so critical to democracy.

Judge Restrepo was appointed to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 2013. He was appointed to his current position on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2016.

Upon graduating from Tulane Law School in 1986, Judge Restrepo served as a law clerk at the ACLU’s National Prison Project. From there, Judge Restrepo practiced as a defense lawyer in Philadelphia, first working as a public defender and then founding his own firm, Krasner & Restrepo, which specialized in criminal defense and civil rights litigation.
