U-M Google Mail Security
We have recently been made aware of a vulnerability in Google Mail configurations which could allow someone access to your email, even if you have two-factor authentication set up.
Two-factor authentication remains the best protection for email, Wolverine Access, and other University web pages which require authentication. See our Duo two-factor information page for more information.
Note: If you use Apple Mail, Outlook, or Thunderbird you should NOT follow these instructions or you will be unable to access email from those clients.
In order to prevent unauthorized access to your email account go to Settings in your Google email (Click on the 'Gear' icon at the top-right and select
Settings). |
|
Click on
Forwarding and POP/IMAP and disable both POP Download and IMAP Download.
*Note that if you do not see the option to disable POP, it is already disabled.
Click
Save Changes.
You are done.
