What has changed around campus since you were a student?  A lot!  From the past decade alone, the roster of completed construction at the University includes the Museum of Art renovation and expansion, the Cardiovascular Center, the Walgreen Drama Center, Weill Hall, and many more.  Still in progress are the new Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital, North Quad Residential Complex, and of course, the Law School's new academic building and Robert B. Aikens Commons.  Check out these new landmarks and spot your old favorites on this tour of Ann Arbor, focusing on the U-M campus.

Dean Evan Caminker moderates an information question-and-answer session for the entire Law School community with special gues Elena Kagan, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.  This is a ticketed event.

Presentation of the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA)

A new tradition continues at Michigan Law:  The presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award.  The award recognized extraordinary alumni who, through making an exceptional impact on their professions, communities, and/or Michigan Law, have exemplified the values and ethos of the University of Michigan Law School.

    The 2012 awardees are:

    • Bruce P. Bickner, ’68, former corporate executive and law firm practitioner, and longtime alumni volunteer chair of the Law School’s successful private fundraising efforts, including the campaign for our building expansion and renovation project;
    • The Honorable Amalya L. Kearse, ’62, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the first woman and second African American to be named to that bench, and the first woman and first African American lawyer to become a partner in a Wall Street law firm;
    • James J. White, ’61, the Robert A. Sullivan Professor of Law at Michigan Law, one of the most highly regarded teachers and scholars in Law School history, whose book Uniform Commercial Code (with Summers and Hillman) is considered to be the most widely recognized treatise o subject.

Dedication and Open House of South Hall

Join Associate Justice Elena Kagan, University President Mary Sue Coleman, and Dean Caminker for the formal dedication of South Hall, the Law School's first new academic building since the Law Quadrangle was dedicated in 1934.  Following remarks there will be an Open House and tours of the building.

This special event welcomes alumni who give $2,500 or more annually to the Law School Fund and who, in appreciation, are recognized at the Cavaedium Society level.  (For more information on annual giving, the Law School Fund, and reunion giving, please contact Janice Glander, Director of Annual Giving, at 734.615.4521 or jglander@umich.edu)

Gather with old friends and new to enjoy picnic type food and non-alcoholic beverages.  (**Sorry:  due to state liquor license regulations and U-M campus policy, we are unable to serve alcohol.)  To find your classmates, look for class year signs located throughout the tent.

The Class dinners are the heart of the reunion weekend.  A class photograph will be taken during the evening, and Dean Caminker will stop by to greet each reunion group.
