Peter Van Hoek, an assistant defender in the State Appellate Defender Office in Detroit, teaches Criminal Appellate Practice. A University of Michigan graduate, he earned his JD at Wayne State University Law School. After law school, he did separate clerkships with the Hon. George Bashara and the Hon. Dorothy C. Riley, both of the Michigan Court of Appeals. He previously taught at the University of Michigan Law School and at Wayne State Law School, and practiced with Stark & Gordon P.C. in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is a member of the board of directors of the Michigan Innocence Project. He has written for the Wayne Law Review and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and is a contributing author to the Defender Trial Book.
