Philosophy of Law: Sel Topics

Philosophy of Law: Selected Topics This course surveys philosophical puzzles posed by particular areas of law (as opposed to questions about the nature of law in general, which are covered in Jurisprudence). The topics vary by semester. In recent years, they have included: the justification of criminal punishment; the role that luck plays in legal outcomes; the nature of reasonable doubt; the legal import of statistical evidence; torture; abortion; and racial profiling, among other topics.
