This course will provide a basic overview of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and federal regulation of broadcast, cable, wireless, and broadband internet services in the face of technological change. Topics to be covered include broadcasters' public interest obligations, spectrum auctions, the digital television transition, media mergers and media concentration, cable must-carry rules, and application of telephony-based rules to the internet. The course will use the latest edition of Telecommunications Law and Policy by Benjamin, Shelanski, Speta, and Weiser.Professor DiCola
