The Center for International and Comparative Law regularly invites distinguished speakers from around the world to visit Michigan Law for symposia and conferences, including private practitioners, representatives of national governments and supranational organizations, members of the judiciary, and lawyers from non-governmental organizations.

Recent Events
Professors Kristina Daugirdas, Monica Hakimi, and Steven Ratner addressed the "Palestinian Bid for United Nations Membership" in terms of the Middle East conflict, the legal issues arising from the bid for membership that was presented to the Security Council, and the implications of pursuing this issue through the UN in a panel discussion on October 6, 2011.

Susanne Baer, LLM '93, Justice, Federal Constitutional Court of Germany and William W. Cook Global Law Professor at Michigan Law, presented "Fundamental Rights in Practice: The Approach of the German Federal Constitutional Court," on April 4, 2011.

Michigan Law, Wayne State University Law School, and the U-M Center for Chinese Studies teamed up for the U.S.-China Economic Law Conference on February 11, 2011, in Detroit. Highlights (including videos) from the conference are available here.

The Michigan Journal of International Law presented a symposium on human trafficking February 4-5, 2011, featuring Ambassador Luis CdeBaca, '93, Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, U.S. Department of State.
