Summer Wright

Other 2015 Texas Drug Exonerations
On July 11, 2013, police in Houston, Texas arrested 20-year-old Summer Wright after confiscating a substance that field-tested positive as Ecstasy.

On July 13, Wright pled guilty in Harris County Criminal District Court to possession of a controlled substance. She was sentenced to two years community service.

The Houston Police crime laboratory tested the evidence in April 2015 and no controlled substances were found. The laboratory notified the Harris County District Attorney’s Conviction Review Unit, which informed Wright’s defense attorney.

On May 5, 2015, the prosecution joined Wright’s defense attorney in filing a motion to vacate the conviction. The motion was granted and the prosecution dismissed the charge.
