All students must wear a cap and black gown to march in the ceremony. You will be "hooded" on stage. To learn the proper hooding protocol, please watch the video.
You may order your regalia online from Oak Hall. The rental fee is $79.00. After Friday, March 24, 2017, the charge will be $89.00.
The fee of $79.00 covers the rental of the law gown and hood, trimmed in purple velvet and a tam (cap). You will also receive a tassel, which is yours to keep as a souvenir and extra law (purple) tassels may be purchased for $8.00 each.
No web orders are accepted after Wednesday, April 12, 2017. To order after April 12, you must contact Andy Gillespie, Oak Hall, at 517.282.9876.
When paying for your order, use your credit card billing address for your shipping address. Gowns will be delivered directly to the Law School and will be available for pick-up in South Hall (4th Floor) on Wednesday, May 3, from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 4, from 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
NOTE: If you are using a credit card with a name different than that of the graduate, please contact the Law School Academic Events office at 734.764.4705 or email@example.com after you place your order.
Return your gown and hood (tassel is yours to keep) after the ceremony by 8:00 p.m. to the Oak Hall employees in Hutchins Hall.
Law School Stein
Renewing a Law School tradition, the University of Michigan Law School Stein is a great memento from Law School. This stein is trimmed in 23-karat gold and features your name, graduation year, and graduating class roster on the back. The cost is only $44.95 plus tax. Online ordering is now closed. A limited number of non-personalized steins will be available for pick-up with your cap and gown during the two days before Senior Day.
