Cap, Gown, and Hood Information
All students must wear a cap and black gown to march in the ceremony. You will be "hooded" on stage.
You may order your regalia online from Willsie by clicking on the University of Michigan link. The rental fee is $79.00. After Friday,
April 5, 2013, the charge will be $89.00.
The fee of $79.00 covers the rental of the law gown and hood, trimmed in purple velvet and a tam (cap). You will also receive a tassel, which is yours to keep as a souvenir and extra law (purple) tassels may be purchased for $7.00 each.
No orders are accepted after Friday, April 26, 2013, unless approved by Andy Gillespie, Willsie Company, at 517.925.8630.
When paying for your order, use your credit card billing address for your shipping address. Gowns will be delivered directly to the Law School and will be available for pick-up in South Hall from the Office of Alumni Relations (4th Floor) on Thursday, May 9th from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, May 10th from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
NOTE: If you are using a credit card with a name different than that of the graduate, please contact the Law School Special Events office at 734.615.4535 or lawseniorday@umich.edu after you place your order.
Return your gown and hood (tassel is yours to keep) after the ceremony by 5 p.m. to the Willsie employees at the base of Burton Tower.
Renewing a Law School tradition, the University of Michigan Law School Stein is a great memento from Law School. This stein is trimmed in 23-karat gold and features your name, graduation year, and graduating class roster on the back. The cost is only $29.95 plus tax. Orders must be postmarked by April 8, 2013. A sample may be seen at the Law School Development and Alumni Relations Office. Steins will be available for pick-up with your cap and gown before Senior Day or shipped to you, if they are not ready, at no extra charge.
