REFUGEE LAW, DEBATE AND POLICY  Examining the question of whether terrorists and other international criminals should be excluded from refugee status, leading academic experts and Michigan students convened March 22-24 for the Sixth Colloquium on Challenges in International Refugee Law. Experts who took part this year included: Michel Bastarache, ret. Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada; Jennifer Bond, University of Ottawa Faculty of Law; Won Kidane, Seattle Law School; Audrey Macklin, Toronto Faculty of Law; William Schabas, Middlesex University; James Sloan, Glasgow Law School; Dean Elies van Sliedregt, VU University Amsterdam Faculty of Law; and Matthew Zagor, Australian National University College of Law. The Program in Refugee and Asylum Law hosts the Colloquium every other year to give students the opportunity to take an active role in developing Michigan Guidelines on that year’s chosen issue.
