Acquisitions Librarian
THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN LAW LIBRARY seeks an Acquisitions Librarian.
Duties:
Manages, coordinates, and supervises the work of the Acquisitions Services Unit and its functions including, but not limited to, orders, claims, cancellations, and payments; manages the expenditures and financial reporting for the Law Library collection budget; purchases legal materials for the collection in diverse formats (tangible and electronic); coordinates approval plans; coordinates electronic resource licensing; and, participates in Library management. Supervises full-time and student staff.
Minimum qualifications:
Masters Degree in Information or Library Science from a U.S. accredited graduate school or Bachelors degree and equivalent combination of education and experience; at least 3 years of professional acquisitions experience; knowledge of and experience with library management systems; at least 3 years supervisory experience; proven ability to work effectively with other decision makers; excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; and the flexibility and creativity to be effective in a changing environment.
Desired qualifications: Experience with Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium library management system; ability to learn and understand complex Law Library practices and procedures and to apply technology to them; experience in a large research or law library; demonstrated ability to work with foreign languages.
Salary: $49,000 minimum, salary dependent on education and experience plus benefits worth 28% of salary.
