Freda Baum is the leader of the Cataloging Services Unit. She began working at the Law Library in 1985. Previously, Ms. Baum had worked as a cataloger at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and as reference/circulation librarian at Lambuth College, Jackson, TN. She received a B.A. from the University of Toledo, an M.A. from Bowling Green State University (both in American Studies, emphasis on history, literature, and political science), and an M.A. in Library Science from the University of Chicago.
Ms. Baum supervises the Cataloging Services Unit, which performs pre-order searching, copy and original cataloging, record maintenance, electronic data exchanges, transfers and withdrawals, and more. Other current duties include cataloging library materials, developing and documenting new and revised procedures, and other "behind the scenes" work to support the Library and its collection.
