Biography
In 1948, Vera Bolgár was the first woman to receive a doctorate of law and science from the University of Budapest. Bolgár served as a Research Assistant to Professor Yntema from 1949-1952 and then served as a Research Associate from 1953-1987. She was the Executive Secretary and Associate Editor of the American Journal of Comparative Law from its founding in 1949 until 1971 when the Journal moved to Berkeley. Bolgár published many articles, reviews and translations on comparative law. She retired from the law school in 1987.
