Biography
Professor Carey received Bachelor and Master's degrees from Wesleyan University. He received his law degree from Columbia in 1921, after which he practiced law in New York City. He taught law at the University of Kansas in 1928 before coming to the University of Michigan Law School as an Associate Professor of Law in 1929. He taught in the area of property law and trusts, publishing two case books during his time at Michigan: Cases on the Administration of Insolvent Estates and Cases on the Law of Trusts. He became a Professor of Law at Northwestern in 1932, where he worked until his death in 1950.
