Mandatory Law School Orientation for graduate students, which includes academic advising, will be held from Monday, August 29, through Friday, September 2, 2011. Classes will begin Tuesday, September 6, 2011. A tentative 2011 orientation schedule is available for you to view, to get a sense of what to expect.
Throughout the academic year, the Law School offers a variety of symposia, lectures, and events geared towards graduates students such as International Law Workshops that focus on human rights and environmental policies.
In addition, our International Law Society offers an academic as well as social outlet for international and internationally interested J.D.s, graduate students,
and research scholars. At the
Research Scholar roundtable,
visiting scholars, LL.M.s, and S.J.D. candidates who have done extensive research in an area of international or comparative law present emerging topics in their respective fields in a casual setting open to the interested community. The ILS also hosts informal, region-specific networking events for J.D.s to learn more about the markets our international graduate students had been working in prior to enrolling at Michigan.
There are great bar nights, just to relax and socialize, too.
We also offer weekly "language lunches" which provide a relaxed setting for J.D. and LL.M. students to get to know one another while improving their language skills.
Please visit the
Law School Docket for a complete list of upcoming events.
