Location: Jeffries Hall 1025

Description: Mariko Hirose is the Director of Litigation at the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), an organization that has been on the forefront of litigating against the Muslim bans and various attempts to prevent refugees from resettling to the United States. Her work focuses on crafting novel arguments to protect overseas refugees in U.S. courts, an area of law with limited precedent. Come hear Mariko talk about the recent cases IRAP has successfully litigated, how she addresses the challenge posed by the plenary power doctrine, and how she approaches issues such as standing, claims, reviewability, and remedy as they relate to overseas refugees. Co-sponsored by IRAP. Lunch will be served. Please RSVP on Symplicity under 'Events.'
