Date: 04/21/2014
Time: 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM

Location: Hutchins Hall 220

Description: On December 11, 2013, the Supreme Court of India issued a ruling upholding the nation's Colonial-era criminal punishment of sodomy, dealing a crushing defeat for India's LGBT community. The ruling was particularly hurtful, because an influential lower court, the Delhi High Court, had previously found the statute unconstitutional.

Outlaws is pleased to present Arvind Narrain, who has been called one of "India's rising LGBT stars." A lawyer by training, Narrain co-founded the Alternative Law Forum, a legal social justice organization in Bangalore, India.

Narrain will be introduced by MLaw's own Danish Sheikh, an LLM student from India who has previously worked on sexual freedom issues with the ALF.

Lunch will be provided.
