Community Law Centre

Cape Town

A placement at the Community Law Centre will require the extern to conduct legal and empirical research around critical socio-economic and public service delivery issues. Placements are available in the Multi-Level Government Initiative, a programme that looks at the role of local authorities and regional/provincial governments in sustaining peace and delivering basic services in South Africa and the rest of the continent. Externs work under the supervision of senior researchers and professors at the Centre, and will be taken up in a group of doctoral researchers.

Other programmes of the Centre include: socio-economic rights, prison reform, children's rights, and the parliamentary advocacy office. A placement with one of those programmes may be possible upon request and after consultation.
