Lounges and Snack Areas

There are several lounges and snack areas available for student use.  The student lounge in 200 Hutchins Hall houses vending machines, a microwave oven, several computer stations, and comfortable lounge furniture. Additionally, a coffee bar operates Monday through Friday 8:00-11:00 a.m.

Students wishing to access the Student Lounge any time after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays must use their student ID cards to enter the lounge.  Students must also use their ID cards to access the Student Lounge during all the hours it is open on Saturdays (7:00AM to 4:00AM) and Sundays (8:00AM to 4:00AM). If you find that your card does not work, email Lois Harden, (loiso@umich.edu), with your student ID number.

The snack bar, located in the basement of Legal Research, sells a variety of snacks and light meals, including breakfast. While created primarily for the use and enjoyment of the Law School community, the snack bar is open to the public. During peak hours, the limited seating is reserved for customers.

The Library lounge, located on Sub-3 in the underground addition, is most frequently used by members of the various student journals.

Students may also take bag lunches to The Lawyers Club basement recreation room. The Lawyers Club Main Desk can also provide information on use of the Lawyers Club Main Lounge, Cook Room, or Recreation Room for student meeting space, individual or group study space, receptions, etc. All bookings must be completed in advance and are subject to availability. No food is permitted in the Club’s Main Lounge or Cook Room unless professionally catered by the Club.

Smoking is prohibited in all lounge and snack areas.
