3.This course, seminar, or clinic fulfills the professional responsibility requirement for graduation applicable to all students.

7.STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE FIRST CLASS MEETING OF THIS SEMINAR, PRACTICE/SIMULATION COURSE, OR CLINIC. This policy includes students who enrolled through the Law Course Bidding Interface (CBI) or during the Drop/Add period from the waitlist and those students not enrolled but who are interested in enrolling, whether or not they are on the waitlist. Students who fail to attend the first class meeting WITHOUT making prior arrangements with the professor for an excused absence will have their name removed from the class roster or forfeit their enrollment opportunity. IMPORTANT—IF A STUDENT DECIDES TO DROP A SEMINAR OR PRACTICE/SIMULATION COURSE, S/HE MUST DO SO WITHIN 24 HOURS AFTER THE FIRST CLASS MEETING. This will allow another waitlisted student an expedited opportunity to enroll.

12.This course or seminar is limited in size.

20.Both sections of this course meet simultaneously in the same classroom.

55.This section of the course does not fulfill the New York bar's ethics requirement.

#402 ETHICS COLLOQUIUM: Only students who are currently enrolled for a clinic are eligible to take this class.  Note that students taking certain clinics are not eligible.



143.#402 ETHICS COLLOQUIUM: Section 001 of this practice/simulation is offered for one (1) credit. However, after the term begins and with Professor Niehoff’s permission students may request an enrollment change to section 002 which is offered for two (2) credits. To request a section change, please send an e-mail to LawCurriculumCoordinator@umich.edu and make “Ethics Colloquium Section 002” the subject line. This request must be made no later than--mid March for the Winter Term and mid November for the Fall term--unless an earlier deadline has been established by the professor.The e-mail should contain the following information:
  • Your FULL name (no nicknames)
  • Your STUDENT ID number (listed on your U of M ID card)
  • Professor’s FULL name
  • 3-digit course number
  • Course title
  • 5-digit class number of section 001 to drop (the section in which you are enrolled)
  • 5-digit class number of section 002 to add
  • Term in which you are making the section change
