Fall 2010 Class Descriptions
As of 5/2/2016 5:30:00 AM
Public Interest Colloquium
This colloquium offers a learning experience that will take place both inside and outside the classroom. Each student will be required to spend at least one day (eight hours) per week working under the supervision of an attorney in a public interest law office in the area. Placements to be arranged will likely include offices such as the ACLU of Michigan, the Prosecutors Office and the Office of the Public Defender. Proposals from students who wish to arrange their own placements will also be welcomed. The colloquium will take place on a bi-weekly basis. During the weeks in which the colloquium is not meeting, students will be required to submit a short piece of writing concerning their work, experiences, observations and insights, which will be shared with the group. At each colloquium, at least one student will be responsible to present and guide discussion on his or her project, experiences and observations, which will serve as the basis for group discussion.
NOTE--Students may not take this seminar and be enrolled in a clinic during the same semester.
