Saul Green
Senior Counsel, Miller Canfield, Paddock and Stone. Former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.

For 29 years I had the opportunity to serve in federal, state and county law positions, most recently serving as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan from 1994 to 2001. Each government position provided me keen insight and exposure to some of the important and perplexing problems government undertakes on behalf of its citizens. These problems ranged from providing housing to those who are least able to afford it, to civil rights enforcement, to achieving public safety in our communities.
When I finished my tenure as United States Attorney in 2001, I joined the Detroit law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, and also began teaching at the Law School. My public sector experience continues to be a vital component of both my private practice and my teaching. My practice includes being appointed by the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio as Monitor over police reforms in Cincinnati, Ohio; having worked with the Innocence Project in using DNA evidence to accomplish the release of Eddie Joe Lloyd who had served 17 years in prison for a rape and murder he didn't commit; and currently working with a group of lawyers related to the wrongful conviction and execution of Larry Griffin in St. Louis, Missouri.
The seminars on fair housing, and police integrity I teach with Public Service/Public Interest Professor Judith Levy are an outgrowth of our public service experience. I don't believe anything in the practice of law can put you in a better position to impact the real, unrelenting problems facing citizens, and our communities than a public service/public interest practice. I look forward to imparting some of the exciting and challenging experiences I have had in the more than three decades of commitment to public service and public interest.
