| Wireless Access Policy
Michigan Law has one of the largest and busiest wireless networks on campus. It is used heavily by the Law School community for teaching, research, exams, and class scheduling needs.
The Law School wireless network is protected by a Bluesocket wireless gateway device designed to do the following:
- Authorize individuals based on University status
- Restrict bandwidth to a level that assures all authorized users experience a 'good' connection
- Limit protocols to approved, appropriate types to increase system security. Different protocols are used for web browsing, ftp, email, instant messaging etc. Many other protocols can be used for a hacker attack on the system if not limited.
At this time wireless access is granted to Law School and Business School students, faculty, and staff only.
Wireless Access in the Classrooms The Law School no longer controls wireless access during class time.
This policy will be revisited as the technology evolves. |
