Audio-Visual Facilities, Services and Equipment The Law School provides A/V services, equipment, and personnel to set up and break down equipment for officially sponsored Michigan Law School events. Those events will be given first priority. Limited, for-fee services will be provided to other University departments, non-law students, and external organizations during normal A/V working hours (8:00 am - 9:00 pm, Monday though Friday).
Law faculty, staff and students may request off-site use of equipment for Law School-related events only. Equipment will not be loaned for personal use. The Law School Audio-Visual Department does not loan or rent equipment to be used off-site by non-Law School entities.
Give Proper Notice When Making Requests All requests for A/V services and equipment, no matter how simple, should be placed through the Law Events online system. Advance notice is extremely important, especially if it requires staff to work overtime and weekends. Give as much notice as possible for major events (at least a month for symposia, one week but preferably more for video conferences). Even simple requests must be made at least two working days in advance to ensure availability of equipment and support staff.
Submitting Work Requests To request A/V services, please complete the Event Reservations online form (login required). Detailed instructions are available on our FAQ page. Permissions From Speakers For Recording Prior To Events Formal permission must be obtained prior to an event from any person who will be recorded during the course of the event. Recording Of Classes Digital audio recording, with the audio files posted to Canvas, will only be performed at the request of the faculty member or his/her designated representative. Students who must be absent from class should refer to the Class Recording Request policy.
Video conferences Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with contact information for the technical staff supporting the other side of the video conference at least seven days prior to the event so that arrangements can be made to test the connection between the sites.Students requesting video conference interviews should refer to the Video Conference Interview Procedures for Law Students section of our FAQ page.
