Computing Resources

Law School Computing Resources
The following computing facilities and resources are available to U-M Law students:

Law School Printing
The Law School allows each law student to print up to 600 pages of black and white laser printing per term on Law School-designated student network printers at no cost. Additional b&w pages are charged at 5 cents per page. Unused pages are not rolled over to the next term.

Any printing that exceeds the Law School printing limit will be billed directly to your University student account and charges will appear on your tuition statement.

To check your Law School printing usage:

  • Go to Law School Print Monitor. You will need to log in with your uniqname and UMICH password.
  • The next screen will display your Law School printing activities for the current semester.
  • Be sure to logout when you are done.

U-M Services and Resources

All registered students on the Ann Arbor campus are eligible to receive the services and resources included in the Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) Basic Computing Package (BCP) at no charge.

Note: Anything over the BCP limit will be billed directly to your University student account and charges will appear on your tuition statement.

You can check online at any time to see how much of these resources you have used during a term, and you can also check the services to which you are currently subscribed.

To check your BCP services, E-mail quota, IFS Home Directory size, and printing (non-Law School)/dial-in usage:

  • Go to UMCE. You will need to log in with your uniqname and UMICH password.
  • The next screen will display your usage of dial-in, printing, IFS Home Directory, and IMAP e-mail, and will list any other services to which you are subscribed.
  • Be sure to logout when you are done (the link is in the lower right corner).
Sites Printing
The 2005 Basic Computing Package allows students to print up to 400 b&w pages per term at no cost in Campus Computing Sites, ResComp Sites, and to the Sites printer in the Law School computer lab. (Double-sided printing counts as two pages.) Additional b&w pages are charged at 6 cents per printed side.

Campus Wireless

UM Wireless Network

Available to U-M students, faculty, and staff.
Access locations include the Michigan Union, Michigan League, Angell Courtyard Campus Computing Site, and University Library system, plus more locations around campus.
 
Business School Wireless Network
By special arrangement, Law School students with compatible wireless cards can use the wireless LAN installed at the Business School. You must register your wireless card at the Business School prior to obtaining access. E-mail all your wireless registration information (your uniqname, affiliation with the Law School, MAC address of card, name of the card) to the Business School helpdesk.
