Applicants must be members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), less than 25 years of age, possess a grade point average of 3.00 or better and demonstrate financial need. Students, who do not demonstrate financial need, can compete for an award, set aside for those students. Awards of $1,500 -$2,500 are made. Graduate students may be enrolled full- or part-time.

The Herbert Lehman Education Fund: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have outstanding potential as evidenced by academic records, test scores, and personal essays. Candidates must also demonstrate community involvement and leadership qualities. Deadline: March 31
The Earl Warren Legal Training Program: These scholarships are awarded each year to new students whose community involvement activities and leadership qualities demonstrate outstanding potential for training as civil rights and public interest attorneys. These awards are limited to U.S. citizens and preference is given to students who are entering their first year of full-time study.

Grants of up to $6,000/year are available to African American students who are residents of Colorado. Applicants must have been in their undergraduate program and must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.60 or better. Need and consideration of the applicant's areas of study and life goals are also taken into account. Selections are made on a case by case basis.
Deadline: The application process is open from January 1 - March 31.
