AmeriCorps engages Americans of all backgrounds in results-driven service. AmeriCorps members help communities meet their education, public safety, human and environmental needs.
In exchange for completing ten to twelve months of full-time service with AmeriCorps, members earn and education award of $4,725 to help pay for college or pay back student loans. Full-time members earn a modest living allowance and health care coverage.

This program offers college juniors, seniors, and graduate students in all disciplines (including law) an opportunity to work in one of the agencies under the jurisdiction of the Governor for two months. The FDLI Summer Internship Program is a comprehensive, five-day course providing practical instruction on the fundamentals of federal food and drug law and regulation, the Food & Drug Administration, and that agency's programs designed to ensure consumer safety. There is no fee for full-time students. IFEEO has established a Summer Associate Award in the amount of $1,000 per week for 12 weeks. A second-year law student will develop and submit a proposal for a full-time 12 week internship with a public interest organization or an attorney that is involved in litigation to enhance educational opportunities for disadvantaged students, particularly through legal means, such as school finance/equity litigation. Up to ten 12-week paid internships at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. are open to students with an interest in education policy or public policy and administration. Scholars will assist with projects related to critical education programs and initiatives, analysis, policy development, or legal or other work designed to provide developmental experiences and exposure to government and public policy at the highest levels of a Cabinet Department.

The Luce Scholars Program represents a major effort by the Henry Luce Foundation to provide an awareness of Asia among potential leaders in American society. It is unique among American-Asian exchanges in that it is intended for young leaders who have had no prior experience of Asia and who might not otherwise have an opportunity in the normal course of their careers to come to know Asia or their Asian counterparts.
Internships are arranged for each scholar on the basis of his or her specific interest, background, qualifications, and experience. These work assignments run for approximately ten months from mid-September until July and are intended primarily as learning opportunities for the Scholars. Luce Scholars receive a significant monthly stipend.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens who have earned at least a bachelor's degree before taking part in the program. Candidates must be in good health and no more than 29 years of age on September first of the year they would enter the program. Applications cannot be considered from those who already have had significant exposure to Asian culture or who have a specific career interest in Asian affairs. The ORISE Law Internship Program provides law students with opportunities to participate in research on legal aspects of energy-related techniques and procedures, national energy-related problems, and efforts related to their solutions. Three-month summer appointments are available at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Hazardous Waste Remedial Actions Program in Oak Ridge, and Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.
Participants are assigned independent, energy-related legal questions to research and analyze in such areas as waste management, environmental issues, facility security and operational safeguards, human and health effects and risk, and administrative law. Federal or contractor legal staff will serve as mentors and provide advice and guidance. Deadline: The first Monday in February.
