The Belgian American Educational Foundation will award eight fellowships of $17,000 each for advanced study or research at one of the Belgian Universities or other academic institutions of higher learning. The applicant must be a citizen of the United States and have a J.D. or LL.B. degree or be working towards an equivalent degree. Candidates under 30 years of age and with a speaking and reading knowledge of Dutch, French or German are preferred. Applicants are nominated by the Dean of the Law School.

The Center for International & Comparative Studies (CICS) is offering a not-for-credit seminar for master's students and doctoral students at the pre-candidacy level intending to pursue field-based research outside the United States. The seminar is open to students in the early stages of graduate training with interests in international and area studies who can demonstrate goals of completing training and research through the doctorate. Graduate students from across disciplines are invited to apply. Each student admitted will have access to a restricted research fund of up to $4,500, to be used for a preliminary visit to the prospective foreign research site and for specialized language training.

The award provides for up to nine months of study at the University of Geneva, Switzerland by an American candidate for the Ph.D. who is actively engaged in dissertation research for the Doctorate within the field of international relations. The fellowship provides a stipend of $11,250 for the October-June academic year and round trip travel, New York to Geneva.

The German Marshall Fund of the United States offers grants for advanced research to improve the understanding of significant contemporary economic, political and social developments relating to Europe, European integration and relations between Europe and the United States. The National Security Education Program (NSEP) provides a unique funding opportunity for U.S. students to study world regions critical to U.S. interests. NSEP was designed to provide Americans with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future security of our nation, in exchange for a commitment to seek work in the federal government. As students of other cultures and languages, NSEP Boren Scholars and Fellows begin to acquire the international competence needed to communicate effectively across borders, to understand other perspectives, and to analyze economic and political affairs.
