DWAYNE PROVIENCE
Wrongfully convicted in 2001 for a murder on Detroit's northwest side, Dwayne became the Clinic’s third official exoneree in March 2010. The Clinic presented new evidence of his innocence, including exculpatory evidence previously suppressed by the prosecution. After granting an evidentiary hearing to weigh the new evidence, Wayne County Circuit Court Chief Judge Timothy Kenney threw out Dwayne's conviction in November 2009. The Wayne County Prosecutor weighed a retrial for months, but finally dropped charges on March 24, 2010.
