SUMMARY:From 1999 to 2011, Maria Rojas and her brother led the smuggling of Mexican girls and women into the Houston area, where they were forced to work as prostitutes in bars and restaurants owned by Rojas. The women were told they would have legitimate jobs in bars and restaurants in the United States. Starting in 2003, Rojas used Mexican pimps to supply and control the women. The women's earnings went to the restaurant and the pimps. Maria Rojas and Jose Luis Rojas were sentenced to 16 years in prison and will be deported at the end of their prison terms. Maria Rojas appealed her sentence; it was affirmed. Jose Luis Rojas appealed the judgment; it was affirmed.
