SUMMARY:Plaintiff first spoke with defendant Nilda J. Maypa in 2001 about moving to the U.S. to work as a babysitter for Maypa's grandchild. In December of that year Plaintiff entered into a contract with the defendants to work for them for two years and to be paid $6.50 per hour. After arriving at the defendants' home, the plaintiff's passport was taken and she was not treated in accordance with the contract. She was forced to perform domestic servant work and only paid 50 cents per hour. Defendants forced Plaintiff into servitude through psychological abuse and social isolation. Claims were dismissed on the basis of the statute of limitations.
