SUMMARY:Defendants Ernesto and Alberto Cortes-Castro and Israel Cortes-Morales established a sex trafficking and prostitution business in which they transported undocumented women from Mexico to the U.S. Defendants recruited the victims by establishing emotional connections with them in Mexico- sometimes by promising them marriage or by impregnating them. They would deliver the women to brothels where they would stay for up to two weeks, being forced to have sex with migrant workers. Defendants forced the victims to comply by physically harming them and threatening to abandon them. Some of the money was sent back to families in Mexico while the defendants kept the rest. The victims had no ties to the U.S and did not speak English.
