APPEAL STILL PENDING?:
SUMMARY:In 2000, Plaintiff came to the U.S. from the Philippines on a tourist visa. She met Defendants Dorothy De Castro and Perlita Jordan at an employment agency and they offered to sponsor her H-1B visa. Defendants said they represented Best Care Agency, a nursing employment agency. Plaintiff alleged that they said they would hire her as an accountant, while Defendants claim they said they would hire her for general secretarial duties. Upon arrival in the U.S., Plaintiff was paid less than what she believed she would be paid and thought that Defendants would withdraw her H-1B sponsorship if she refused to comply with the lower payment and additional secretarial duties. The case is still in the pre-trial stage.
