SUMMARY:Defendant Willie B. Bell recruited a 16-year-old female to engage in commercial sex acts after promising her marriage, a new car, and new clothing. Defendant acted as the victim's pimp. By May 1980, two more minors were engaging in prostitution at Bell's direction. On May 22, 1980, Bell assaulted one of the victims for drinking instead of working. Fearing similar treatment, the other two victims reported Bell to the police. Bell was convicted for promotion of prostitution and sentenced to nine years imprisonment.
