SUMMARY:Defendant Jose Zavala-Acosta, a Mexican national, engaged in human trafficking, alien smuggling, and selling cocaine at La Potra Bar, a nightclub in the Houston area. Zavala-Acosta coordinated the smuggling of people from Honduras and Mexico for the nightclub owner, Carlos Cabrera. Cabrera paid for women to be transported into the United States, then forced them to work at his nightclub to pay off their debt. After a raid on La Potra Bar, five men were arrested. The other four men were charged with drug-related offenses. Zavala-Acosta was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment.
