SUMMARY:Defendant Manuel Zelaya-Rodriguez, also known as Mecanico, harbored a fifteen year-old girl and caused her to engage in commercial sex acts with 40 to 50 men. Both the defendant and the victim were from Mexico and were in the U.S. illegally. The victim appears to have been transported to Alabama from Mexico for the purposes of prostitution. The defendant was convicted on charges of trafficking the underage girl for sex, coercing a minor to engage in prostitution, harboring an illegal alien and failing to file a report with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement about an illegal alien in his employment. He was sentenced to 188 months imprisonment.
