SUMMARY:Defendant Lloyd Royal engaged in commercial sex acts with three minor females, some of whom were formerly homeless, in exchange, for a place to stay. He arranged for the victims to stay with co-defendant Angela Bentolila. Royal found customers willing to pay for sex with the victims. He gave the victims drugs, provocative clothing, and condoms prior to driving the victims to hotels for prostitution. He forced the victims to perform commercial sex acts by threatening to harm the victims' families, forbidding them from contacting certain individuals, and holding a gun to one victim's head. A jury found Royal guilty of seven charges related to sex trafficking. He was sentenced to 37 years in prison. Bentolila was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
